Hi, I’m Aaron

I’m a storytelling visual designer with a Strategic Communication background and 20 diverse years of experience across museums, community journalism, public education, and non-profits. I’m looking to use my skills for the public good and to fight for equity.

If you have a progressive cause you’re promoting and want some experiential/digital/graphic design or strategy help, I’d love to lend a hand.

Keep learning, and do some good in the world.

I left undergrad with bachelors degrees in Journalism and Art, and couldn’t wait to get out into the “real world.” My first stop: ad agencies. I learned fast (and sometimes hard) about design specs and client expectations and unforgiving deadlines. It was fast-paced and fun, but we spend so much of our lives at work that I decided I wanted to find a way to “give back” with these hours.

So I moved to a land-grant university, doing multimedia design for one of their largest departments. I felt good about the work—accessible higher education—and the more measured pace allowed me to broaden my skill sets to include digital, video, and interactive design.

But there was still something missing from my design efforts. I went back to school to earn my master’s degree in Strategic Communication, then found work at National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C., where I could put these new skills to use in brand marketing and experiential design.

My Services

These days, I find myself doing a wide array of tasks for big and small organizations: designing and managing a traveling exhibition for National Geographic, creating motion graphics and running social media for a board game crowdfunding launch, refreshing an education service district’s branding for improved accessibility. So how can I help you?
